πŸ“ Description

Interview Island is a remote, rugged island located west of Mayabunder in North Andaman. With no permanent population, limited human access, and thick tropical vegetation, it remains one of the most wild and isolated places in the entire Andaman group.

What makes Interview Island unique is the population of wild elephants β€” descendants of elephants brought here for logging during British times, now living freely in the forest. Sightings aren’t guaranteed, but the idea of sharing space with these majestic animals in the wild adds a thrilling edge to the visit.

The island is also rich in biodiversity, offering excellent opportunities for birdwatching, nature photography, and forest exploration. The beaches here are raw, rocky, and absolutely untouched, with no commercial structures in sight. The terrain includes marshes, hills, coastal forests, and inland water bodies, making it ideal for eco-researchers and serious adventure travelers.

Due to its ecological sensitivity, visiting the island requires permission from the Forest Department, and there are no accommodation or food facilities. It is usually visited as a day trip via private boat from Mayabunder, under guided supervision.
